I got some information today, that I could be meeting the IVF Doctor by the end of this month or by the middle of next month. WOW, its moving so fast but I can't wait for everything. I am also waiting for an email from my couple, I am so excited to get to know them and can't wait to see them. It does feel a little weird knowing that I will be pregnant again soon, but it will be so great to do this wonderful thing and help to create a great family.
Welcome to my blog
I wanted to share my story has I go along with my journey, in hopes to help you understand why this is such a special gift to give someone.

The meeting
This time when everyone went around the room and shared their stories about their journey's and where they at so far. I got to say that I have been MATCHED. It felt great to say it out loud, and it made me feel like one of them. We did hear about a birth story that didn't turn out so great, but that surro-mom is doing better. We also got to hear about some other birth stories that turned out great. I am going to try and not think about what could go wrong but about what could go right. I enjoy going to these meeting because of the support and the understanding I get from the other surrogate mothers. I do have a great support system but the understanding of the whys are sometime hard to explain and to get others to understand why being a surrogate is so important to me. I do want to say thank you to everyone that supports me and thinks this is a great thing for me to do. The next meeting I go to, I get to be there for my friend while she shares her birth story.
I also talked to my coordinator about what is next for me, and now I am waiting to hear from the IVF Dr. and my couple. I am looking forward to meeting them and going though everything with them.

Being matched
Last night I got the email saying that I have been matched. Now my journey begins. I am so happy for what I get to do for this amazing, and deserving couple . I have great hopes that everything works out the first time, so they don't have to wait much longer for their child. Now I get to learn about all the ends and outs of being a surrogate, and making the connection with my couple.

The start of my journey
In July of 2011, I was on the phone with a dear friend of mine. She was telling me about her application to become a surrogate mother. I got so excited for what she was doing, and had told her how excited I was for her and how I have always wanted to be a surrogate myself. To think that I could help someone add to their family or help start a family. So I went online and filled out my application. I was contacted a few days later through email to let me know that they wanted me to fill out the 2nd part of the application. So I did it took a little while to get all the information they needed. Now I needed to wait after about 6 months of not hearing back I thought that maybe I wasn't someone they needed at the time. When January of 2012 came around thing where falling apart in my life. So the thought of being a surrogate had left my mind. At this time my friend had been matched and was waiting for her transfer date. At this point I was so excited for her, I got to learn first hand about everything to do with what was involved in being a surrogate mother. In August I felt like it was a great time to find out what had happen to me application. So I contacted the agency that I was going through. A day later I had received an email saying that I would be a great match, but at the end of the email it said since I lived out of state they couldn't help me. So I sat on that for a few days and thought about it. Then it came to me my friend live in the same state as I do, so I emailed the agency back. I explained that I wasn't understanding why I couldn't be a surrogate mother from Nevada. They told me that there would be a lot of traveling involved. My thought on that was it would be a small price to pay for what I would be doing for a family. I didn't feel like that was a good enough answer. I then told them I have friend that is a surrogate right now and she lives 30 min away from me. They said as long as I understand what would be involved they would love for me to move forward. Then I had learned that on my application I had put the wrong phone number down(this is why I never heard anything back). In September my friend invited me to a support group meeting for surrogate mothers. I was so excited to go and learn more about what was going to be happening in my life. When we got there I was greeted by one of the coordinators, she ask me if I could stay after the meeting and fill out the evaluation. I had learn so much more about being a surrogate from all the other surrogate mother that shared there stories. I wanted to be a surrogate even more now, I had stayed after the meeting to fill out the evaluation. That was fun. It was just the start of all the information they were going to need from me. In the next month I got together everything I needed to send to them, I had made a doctor's app with my OB. To make sure I was healthy enough to be a surrogate, when I ask him if he would be my doctor during the pregnancy he was so excited and said "YES". On October 4th I had my phone interview, she told be she felt that I would be a great match for the agency and would be a great surrogate and that I would here about from her soon. Oct 26th I received a phone call telling me that a have been matched with a couple. I was really excited and could wait for the next steps. My husband and I had to go get our lab work done. Everything came back great, now I am waiting to find out if the couple feels I will be a right match for them. In a few days I get to go to another group meeting and this time I get to say that I am in the process of being matched.
This is the start of a great thing, I am so happy to share my story with you.
